    One of the main objectives for the website owners is to have their site get indexed and as much as possible get the maximum page rank by any search engines especially at GOOGLE, YAHOO, ALTAVISTA, and MSN. Usually, a submitted site in GOOGLE will get indexed not in a definite time (maybe it will take a week or a month). There are many ways to inprove your site’s page rank which is clearly elaborated at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank (formula developed by GOOGLE). The formula simply reflects that the more inbound quality links to your site the higher the page rank that you will get. As an example, making comments to different blog sites with your URL posted will clearly increase page rank. However, blogging platform such as Wordpress version 1.5 and above automatically assigns the nofollow attribute to all user-submitted links (comment data, commenter URI, etc) to prevent spamdexing. On the other hand, by placing links in your site will confer page rank points to the linked site.

    Higher page rank will increase the probability of being searched depending on the keywords specified in the search string. Thus, many companies will be attracted for sponsorship and advertisements. It also connotes more traffic or page views or page hits as long as it is within the site’s bandwidth capacity otherwise a crush might occur and it will definitely ruin your business day.

    To embed a graphical page rank in your site like this pagerank8.jpg, just copy and paste the text below into one of your pages specifying your URL:

    From the word itself, it means a textile for geo (earth). It is not an ordinary textile that is used for clothing and dresses but it is a textile designed for geotechnical engineering applications. Geotextile is one of the geosynthetic materials that can be used in various engineering applications namely slope stability reinforcement, drainage, filter, road embankment reinforcement, erosion control protection, separation, landfills and many others. Geotextile can be woven or non-woven that is made from various processes (mechanical bond, chemical bond, heat-bonded). The most common raw materials used for geotextile are Polyester, Polypropylene, and Polyethylene. Polyester geotextile is normally used as tensile reinforcement because of its high creep resistance and high tensile strength. However, this type of geotextile is susceptible to hydrolysis process in concrete and lesser resistant to chemicals in comparison to the other types.

    The two in contrast physical properties of the geotextile that are very difficult to attain by the manufacturers are the permeability and porosity. Permeability is the ability of a material for a water to flow along or across the plain of the textile while porosity is the property of the geotextile that should be kept to a minimum so as to control the passage of fine particles while allowing the flow of water when the geotextile is primarily used as filter.

    With geotextile, it offers an alternative economical solution to engineering problems but mostly people are not well informed of the technology.

           Information technology requires automated database system to manage information for storage and retrieval. The ideal recommended system should have large storage capacity, secured connection, and faster data transfer speed which purely depends on hardware and software competency. There are range of database management programs that are commercially available such as MSSQL, ORACLE and many others and there are even open source database systems that can be downloaded from the net but they are expected to have some bugs as these are mostly under development stage. The basic set-up of a database requires interface in processing the information. This interface is a program that is usually platform dependent which depends on the compatibility with the system. The processes involve queries (SQL) that are mostly in common format in most of the systems.

           Secured information in the database are processed with various encryption methods so that they are unreadable for unwanted third party access and must have multiple level of protection system. The trade-off for security will be processing speed as there would be delays during the decryption or encryption of information.

           Spam and scam sound similar and they sometimes both go hand in hand with each other. Spam e-mails are usually unsolicited e-mails sent by bulk to any internet e-mail users for product or product advertisements with or without the use of a program. Sometimes the sources could be scams. These usually happen when emails are made available online or in any posted areas. For pre-cautionary measures, posting e-mails online should be avoided (especially with @ sign) as the spammers could easily search them online. Another way is to avoid getting involved in chain letters as the e-mails are passed to any unknown receivers. Spamming is very difficult to put to a stop completely where spammers use various strategies to send e-mails to servers such as changing of email subjects, contents, senders’ names, e-mail addresses, cloaked IP addresses, using graphic contents instead of text ones and many others. Mail service providers should install programs with algorithms to counter spams in their servers as to protect the subscribers. E-mail service providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Google Gmail and others have their own programs catering this need which include identifying spam e-mails and directing them to Bulk mails. But, sometimes spam e-mails could even still go through the inbox and there would be cases of identifying the wanted e-mails as spams where the solution to this is by registering contacts’ e-mails to the address book.

                Although spam e-mails can be tolerated but scam mails are just really scary. One should exercise extreme caution in identifying the legitimacy of the correspondence and taking the right action by not engaging into any proposals sent.

    GPR       There are various equipment used in geophysical surveys. Among those equipment is the so-called Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The GPR, which uses radio waves, is capable of detecting soil profiles at any depths depending on the radio frequency that is being used. Higher frequency GPR is more accurate in the detection of the profile but it is only used at shallow depths while the lower frequency GPR is capable of detecting at greater depths but it has lesser resolution output of the profile. The main concept of the detection is that the radio waves are reflected back once they hit different kinds of material having different values of di-electric constants as functions of time.  It has various applications in different fields such as mine detection, buried utility detection, sub surface profile detection, rebar detection in concrete slabs, deterioration defect detection, void detection and many others.

    Road Laser profiler       Road condition survey for the road maintenance management system is a very tedious and risky task that uses the conventional method particularly when it is done in a numerous road network. The conventional way uses visual inspection and surveys are conducted by manual measurements in the middle of highway. To complete the task, more manpower and time may be needed and eventually entails more costs to the government road agency.

           The use of Road Profiler will make the job safer, quicker, easier, and more accurate.  However, the equipment costs a fortune to purchase one which could reach to 2/3 of a million dollars.  The machine is equipped with lasers, DGPS, DMI, and camera to determine rutting, International Roughness Index (IRI), texture, and road surface distresses (such as cracks, potholes, deformation).

           The only issue is the proper implementation of the outcome from maintenance analysis as financial restraint is the common problem in any government agency to accomplish the task. Without the proper execution, the cost of getting the equipment is not justifiable.

           Internet browsing is really fun especially when pulling down very beautiful, informative, interactive and lively sites. Various web design programs are available now so that beginners in web creation could easily design a web on their own by just even dragging the elements to the page.  Templates are readily made so as to what ambiance of the site is preferable for the users.  These objects are usually created using the HTML tags and cascading style sheets commands with or with out plug-in and script programming.

           Every browser has its own feature to view the page source where the HTML tags are readable. The  basic HTML tags that can be found in every page are shown below:

    <html>
    <head>
    <meta name=”keywords” content=”" />
    <title>title here…</title>

    The Engineer’s TransitIn locating points, leveling, and lay-outing, the engineer’s transit is the instrument that could do all these things.  But unfortunately, in this modern world, things are changing so fast. New technologies are coming out which can do even more accurately and more efficiently.  So, modern engineers don’t have the idea of the basic operations of the conventional one.   Below is a list of the desirable adjustments to be made for the Engineer’s Transit:

    1. Vertical cross hair lies on a plane perpendicular to the horizontal axis
    2. Axis of each plate level lies on a  plane perpendicular to the vertical axis
    3. Line of sight perpendicular to the horizontal axis
    4. Horizontal axis perpendicular to the vertical axis
    5. Axis of the telescope level parallel to the line of sight
    6. Vertical circle should read zero when the telescope bubble is centered (for transit having a fixed vertical vernier)
    7. Axis of the auxiliary level parallel to the axis of the telescope level when the vertical vernier reads zero (for transit having a movable vertical vernier with control level)
    8. Line of sight, insofar as defined by the horizontal cross hair, coincides with the optical axis
    9. Axis of the striding level parallel to the horizontal axis (for transit equipped with striding level)
    10. Proper adjustment of optical plummet
